It was just another day in the Zephyr Woods where Pachi lived. The sunlight that shone through the trees was shattered into a splotchy pattern by the leaves in the trees. It happened to be about 75 degrees out, which was perfect if you were a Pachirisu like Pachi. There was a nice breeze blowing in from the southeast as Pachi scurried down from his tree.

Unlike most Pachirisus, Pachi lived a solitary life, and had since deciding to leave his colony to go exploring 5 years ago. He was a friendly pokemon and had made numerous friends during his travels.

Upon reaching the ground, Pachi did the same thing he did every day, which was looking around to make sure no predators were around. He then scurried to his favorite berry bush and began to pick some Oran berries. He preferred Oran berries over all other berries because of their sweet taste. That's when he heard the voice.

"Awwww, what a cute Pachirisu! I just have to catch it! Go, Sandshrew, Scratch!"

Before Pachi knew what was happening, he felt sharp claws enter his shoulder and scratch downwards. As he looked at the scratches, he could see that they were only bleeding slightly, so they weren't as bad as he had feared.

"Erghhh!" he screeched as he leapt backwards. He then turned to his adversary, and right away he knew that he was in trouble.

His adversary was a Sandshrew, and she had a trainer as well that probably wanted to catch him. It was already too late when he noticed the red and white ball that the trainer had thrown at him. He couldn't dodge in time, so he was hit by it and sucked inside.

As soon as he was sucked into the pokeball, Pachi tried getting free, but unfortuneatly....wiggle wiggle wiggle ding! He was soon too exhausted to struggle and was caught.

"Oh well. I wanted an adventure." Pachi sighed to himself. "It'll be nice to travel with companions."

Truthfully, he wasn't too upset about being caught by a pokemon trainer.

It wasn't long before he was sent out, and he found himself back in the clearing.

"Hi!" a human voice said to him kindly. When he turned to the voice, he could see that it belonged to his new trainer. He hadn't seen many humans, but he was guessing that this was a female human. "I'm your new trainer. It's so nice to meet you."

"Welcome to the team!" the Sandshrew said friendily, holding out a paw for Pachi to shake.

"Thanks, I think." Pachi said uncertainly as he took the Sandshrew's paw and shook it. "So, what's your name?" he asked the Sandshrew.

"My name is Sandy, and Laura here just started her pokemon journey just yesterday. I'm her starter, and you're the first pokemon she ever caught.

"Oh." was all Pachi said. He was already beginning to like Sandy.

Maybe having a trainer won't be so bad after all. he thought to himself.
